It is a good place to start for a beginner. I don't know the exact engine,
but most Pug diesels have the fuel filter at the front top of the engine
near the injector pump. You will need a hex / Allen key of the right size (about 6mm) to remove the top, carefully as there may be fuel pipes attached and there will be fuel to the brim. A Haynes manual will tell exactly how. My Picasso has the same generic engine, but the fuel filter is different on different years. If yours has pipes with quick release connections you press down on the white clip and they spring apart slightly and pull off. You have to be very careful not to get dirt into the disconnected pipes and it is a good idea to cling film the ends. All in all it is a simple procedure. You may have to prime the engine before restart.
